The module examines industrial law in Malaysia and the major pieces of legislation affecting the industrial aspects. It provides students a unique insight into the various components of the Malaysian industrial relations system, including the role of the government, trade unions, trade disputes, the Industrial Court and industrial action. It also examines the employment laws which establish the basic rights for employers and employees, whether or not they belong to trade unions, including the laws on safety and health. The course would also analyse the various court decisions related to industrial law with a focus on the legal principles in order to enable industrial players adopt a legal risk management strategy to minimize the threat of litigation that arises in leading and managing industrial organisations.
